Ag

Let's learn the 'Ag' family. Write down the letters 'ag' in colored ink on a flash card. Then, write down individual consonants as b, g, l, m n, r, s, t, w, and z on separate flash cards. After doing so, place the 'b' flash card in front of the 'ag' card and read aloud the word, 'bag''.

b + ag = bag

Now, replace the 'b' flash card with the 'g' flash card to make the word 'gag'. Say it aloud several times, till your child is able to blend 'g' and 'ag' sounds to make word 'gag'

g + 'ag' = gag

Now replace 'g' flash card with 'l' flash card, and repeat the exercise.

l + 'ag' = lag

This excercise should be repeated with all the listed consonants and by the end of this exercise, your child should be able to read these words with ease :

Bag
Gag
Lag
Nag
Rag
Sag
Tag
Wag
Zag

You may have reading test by asking your child to read these flash cards at random.
